Sonic the Hedgehog Intervention Group

The time has come. This is something that we needed to create for a long time, but we never had the strength before now to do so. But shame, worry, and anger gives us strength to do what is right and just. I have created the Sonic the Hedgehog Intervention Group so that we may join together and make a united stand.

Have a look here.

This is getting serious...

Hello folks. Today I would like to talk to you about something serious. Its something that is affecting a lot of young men and women the world over, and it seems to be getting worse recently.

I am of course talking about Street Fighter IV addiction, or SF4A.

What are the symptoms of this rather serious affliction?

Seth Sucks

To: seth@sin.shadaloo.tk

Subject: You are a cheap bastard

Dear Seth,

I will try and keep this short, as I know being a pawn in a major terrorist organization takes a lot of your time.

Now Seth, frankly I am a bit disappointed with your performance as a street fighter, in particular a final boss.  Now please, do not be upset but I have a few complaints about your conduct at this years World Warrior Tournament.

FPS Redemption!!!!! Well Sort Of

As posted and widely reported before the company known as Free Radical are no more, for us the hardcore gamers this meant we lost such great series as Timesplitters, Second Sight and Haze . Wait a minute Haze was crap, okay that doesn’t count but that didn’t discount what a loss this type of company was to the industry and mostly to FPS guys like myself. I mean I grew up with Timesplitters and its multiplayer mayhem, map creation tool on a console (first ever I saw) and stupid character designs I mean everyone remembers the stupid ass monkey. It was like playing Goldeneye but on a Playstation and in ridiculous environments such as Egyptian Pyramids.

But as you may have gathered by my use of the word “was” that Free Radical have been bought and reborn by an FPS giant in Crytek, creators of the Far Cry and Crysis series on the PC. But i was not wrong when I said Free Radical had gone because Crytek has renamed them into their new British studios, to join their other studios in places such as Kiev and Budapest.

So what does this union mean for us the hardcore gamer, well it’s not what it means at the moment it’s what it could mean and what it could spawn that excites me the most. I mean Free Radical spent all their development time on consoles and Crytek has spent most of it’s time developing for the PC it sounds like 2 pieces of a very wonderful FPS puzzle coming together. Imagine Timesplitters looking like Crysis does and being played on a PC and then imagine how easier this makes it for Crytek to gain a foothold in the console market by releasing a version of Crysis there.

Dunno about everyone else out there but this sounds like a total, full and unequivacal WIN WIN for hardcore gamers everywhere and it just shows even from gaming despair can arise what could prove to be gaming perfection.

TOTALLY BOGUS

This is so gnarly for the people involved and a sorry end (maybe?) to the Timesplitters legacy of being one of the few successful yet far from cookie cutter fps series out there.

It is being reported that Free Radical's employees are now screaming "no way dude!" all the way to the employment office. Most of us know how unfun this bogus journey is. Or maybe some of you purchased Haze and are hooting cowabunga upon reading this because you think that this is totally excellent justice of the finest kind.

Evidence of the pitfalls of investing all your capital into an exclusive game on an at the time unproven, esoteric piece of hardware without 2nd party level support from the platform holder? Or just one too many managers addicted to crack or playing WoW? Your guess is probably a lot better than mine. I'm all teary eyed now as I remember the fall of Cavedog. How sad that all these great developers are just one dodgy development cycle or bad idea away from foreclosure.
