DIY Xbox 360 wlan adapter

Well, with just a little bit of ingenuity you can build yourself a 10 euro wlan adapter!

First, get a hold of a Fonera router, often given away free by Fon or on ebay for about 10 euro.

Then, follow these instructions to flash the firmware to the latest DD-WRT firmware. DD-WRT is a open-source linux system that lets you massively extend the usefulness of common wlan routers, giving them features commonly found in expensive enterprise level routers.

With the new firmware installed, use this next guide to alter the settings of the Fonera, such that it acts as a as a wireless bridge. Now the xbox can be connected via ethernet cable to the Fonera, and the Fonera will connect to your existing home wlan network.

Lastly, grab an old USB cable to hack apart, and using this last guide, you can power the Fonera directly from the back USB port on the Xbox 360. 

So, with about an hours work, so can enjoy the satisfaction of building your own ghetto wlan adapter, and give the Xbox 360 that wlan access it needs to dominate its competition!

PwnageTool for iPhone/iPod firmware 3.0 Released!

About 2 milliseconds after the release of Apple´s latest and greatest firmware for it Iphone and ipod touch, has come dev-team´s latest version of PwnageTool, available as a Torrent. With a copy of the newest firmware (google "iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw")  floating around on the intratoobs, PwnageTool quickly modifies this firmware into a custom version that allows your iPhone to run homebrew software.

The source for homebrew software is usually Cydia, an advertising-funded replacement for Apple´s app store. With this next version of PwnageTool, the new homebrew app manager Icy is now also included. Its slicker interface and faster operation are real improvements over Cydia, but beware, as it is still a beta, and there are rumors of instability.

Not content to disbar me from re-downloading my Gears of War 2 maps and probably behind the evil, secret forces that are PG15'ing the Next Ninja Gaiden game into oblivion, glorious Bayern is getting all big brother on us and shutting down one of our nearest and dearest links to the world of uncensored videogaming, Austrian imports!

I know that guy that wrecked up the place way back when came from there but for crying out loud, CALM DOWN!

At least the Bavarian Commission for the Protection of Children Against Media Abuse would make a great enemy in some kind of ultra violent Deus Ex prequel which I would make if I was awesome. I mean, just the name of it reeks with EVIL and designs on world domination!

Where have we gone? Have we really been here?  Fear not loyal subjects, as the Gamers Tavern is about to enter the age of awesome. 

Yes we have been really really lazy off saving the world, but we are back with a vengeance and will be starting to kick your computers ass with updates right soon. 

Our 'New' podcast will be recorded next week, where will we will say goodbye to old cast members, and hello to some new ones, even the elusive 'Dave' may pop in from the seven seas to pay us a visit, should be great.

Where oh where have all the sticks gone?

Seriously!

I cannot for the life of me find an arcade stick for the Xbox 360 at the minute!  Obviously the Hori EX2s and co are flying off the shelves in wake of the huge gap left by Mad Catz not fulfilling people's Fightstick orders, but I can't find any stick, not one ANYWHERE. (I'm ignoring the scalping bastards of ebay, natch).

And while I'm at it, what the hell is wrong with Mad Catz?  What kind of production line have they got going there that they can't even squeeze a few Fightsticks onto the market?

If I don't have a FightStick in my hands by the end of the month, then they can forget about it, and I have a feeling many other gamers will be doing the same.

So please, next time, do some research on the market and make enough to go round eh?
